Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema is considering a £300,000-a-week move to Arsenal, according to Spanish publication Don Balon.
Benzema has come in for plenty of criticism this season after netting just nine La Liga goals in 24 league appearances, being outscored by teammates Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata. The 29-year-old is not actively seeking a move away from the Bernabeu but is open to a transfer and is seriouslyconsidering moving to the Premier League.FBL-EUR-C1-BAYERN MUNICH-REALMADRID

The striker consistently sees other strikers linked with moves to Real Madrid and is willing to move to Arsenal, who are open to doubling Benzema's current wages of £150,000-a-week. The contract would make Benzema Arsenal's highest paid player and send a warning to their domestic rivals.

The club are set for a summer shakeup after a poor season, with the futures of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil yet to be clarified and plenty of players expected to leave with Arsenal currently outside of the Champions League qualifying places.

Sanchez could be sold and the funds reinvested in Benzema, who would offer the Gunners additional quality up front and soften the blow of their best player leaving.

The deal could keep Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo happy at the club, with the Portuguese reportedly unhappy to play out wide in recent years. Benzema's departure could allow Ronaldo to play as the sole striker in Zinedine Zidane's side, a role he has performed exceptionally when asked to.

A player would then be sought for Real's left-hand flank and Chelsea winger Eden Hazard could be bought with the funds garnered from Benzema's sale.
