Arsenal Planning £50m Double Swoop for Porto's Yacine Brahimi and Schalke's Max Meyer
Arsenal are planning the £50m double signing of Porto forward Yacine
Brahimi and Schalke midfielder Max Meyer as potential replacements for
Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, according to the Sun. Italian giants AC Milan and Inter Milan are also reportedly interested in Brahimi, who Porto value at around £35m. Meyer, meanwhile, has been on Liverpool's radar, but Arsenal could move to win the race for the 21-year-old.
Arsenal have reportedly enquired as to the availability of Algerian international Brahimi, a player that could be seen as a direct replacement for Sanchez.
The Gunners' top scorer is
believed to be holding out for a £300,000 per week contract, although
the club are reluctant to stretch to such demands.
Brahimi, 27, has played in both wide positions and centrally for Porto this season, scoring five goals in 19 league appearances. Porto signed the attacker from La Liga side Granada in 2014 for €6.5m.
Schalke's Meyer has attracted the interest of a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham, who were asked to pay £45m for the player.
Having recently rejected a new
contract, Meyer is expected to be valued at just over a quarter of that,
and Arsenal are hoping to bring in another player from the Bundesliga
side.
The Gunners have confirmed the signing of left-back Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer from Schalke, and have now sent scout Francis Cagiga to watch Meyer.
