2 men arraigned over N2m robbery

Two men, Kingsley Sunday and Emmanuel Joseph, were on Monday arraigned before an FCT High Court, Apo, for allegedly robbing one Jude Igwenegu.
The defendants were arraigned on a four-count charge bordering on armed robbery, causing grievous hurt and criminal conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Fedelix Ogbobe, told the court that the defendants and others at large committed the offences at Radio House junction, Gwagwalada, Abuja, on Nov. 26 2016.
He said they robbed Igwenegu, a resident of Kutuku, Gwagwalada of N2,428,370, while he was on his way to the bank.
The prosecutor said in the process, the defendants shot Igwenegu on his left hand which caused him grievous hurt.
Ogbobe also said the accused persons were caught and handed over to the police, and the money was recovered from them.
He said that the defendants also robbed one Odo Lilian of her two cell phones, valued at N80,000 and N2, 000 cash, on the same date.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 97, 298 and 250 of the penal code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Justice Valentine Ashi granted them bail in the sum of N2 million each, and one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 18 for hearing. (NAN)
