police officers shot dead in Suleja
Two Nigerian police officers, Inspector Adamu Mohammed and Sergeant Ade Jimoh, have been shot dead by unknown gunmen while one Inspector Mohammed Aliyu escaped unhurt. All affected officers are attached to ‘A’ Divisional Headquarters, Suleja.
It was gathered that the gunmen, who came in a car, gunned down the two in Maje while on a special duty.
It was gathered that the gunmen who wielded sophisticated rifles immediately opened fire at the policemen on sighting them.
The operation lasted a few minutes as the gunmen quickly made off with two rifles which the killed officers were carrying before other security operatives could be alerted on the incident.
The Divisional Police Officer, CSP Mohammed Mohammed, who confirmed the attack said the officer who survived the attack fled when he sighted his colleagues gunned down from afar, hence he was not at the same spot with the two killed officers.
It was gathered that Inspector Aliyu was chased to a point but could not be caught.
Maje residents said when they heard the gunshots, they hid themselves until the gunmen had taken off in their car.
The Area Commander of Suleja, ACP Paul Odama said that the incident was unfortunate and condemnable, adding that men of his command will do everything possible to bring the culprits to face the wrath of the law.
