Barcelona Sporting Director Confirms Club Are Interested in Bringing Back Gerard Deulofeu
Barcelona sporting director Robert Fernandez has confirmed that the
club are interested in signing former player Gerard Deulofeu from
Everton in the summer, Sport have reported. The Catalan club have an option to bring the winger, currently on loan with Italian giants AC Milan, back to the club for €12m.
Milan are also believed to be
interested in a permanent move for the Spanish international, but it
seems a move back to Barcelona is now the most likely outcome.
"Deulofeu, yes, it's absolutely an option for the future," Fernandez said. "The club are considering bringing him back to play for the first team."
Deulofeu came through Barcelona's famed La Masia academy, but made only six appearances for the first team before joining Everton permanently in 2015.
A move back to his former club
seemed highly unlikely after he fell out of favour at Everton under
Ronald Koeman, but he has excelled since joining Milan on loan.
The 23-year-old has scored two goals and provided three assists in 12 league appearances so far this season for Milan.
