I was close to late Adeleke — Lasun
The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yussuf Suleimon Lasun, yesterday said his family and that of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke were very close and visited each other.
Both Lasun and Adeleke were leading contenders for the governorship seat of Osun State for the 2018 election until the latter’s death on Sunday with speculations rife that he may have been poisoned by his political opponents.
But in a tribute on the floor of the House yesterday, Lasun said “As a good Muslim, when I received the information about his death, I couldn’t talk. I’m still shocked. It’s on record that about 48 hours to his death, he visited my father, because my father was like a father to him.”
Lasun added that Senator Adeleke played politics of openness and carried everybody along irrespective of political differences, saying Adeleke “came, saw but I can’t say if he had conquered because you can’t conquer death.
