Arsene Wenger Says Arsenal Showing 'No Urgency' in Securing Sanchez and Ozil Deals

Arsene Wenger has risked angering sections of Arsenal's fan base once again, insisting that there is 'no urgency' to extend the contracts of dynamic duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. The key pair will have just a year each left on their current deals at the end of the season, with standard practice for clubs being to sell up one year early to avoid losing their big-name stars on free transfers 1

However, with crunch time approaching for the pair - both of whom scored against Middlesbrough in a nervy 2-1 win on Monday night - Wenger told his post-match press conference that he isn't overly concerned about stepping up negotiations.

The veteran Frenchman said: "You know, they still have one year contract left after this season. So I don't think there's an urgency about that in any way, I've said that many times. You perform on the football pitch because you love to play football."
He also admitted that his side look like having to win all of their remaining seven games if they're to continue their streak of Champions League qualifications, saying: "For us, the clarity is there - we have to win every game to have a chance to get in the top four, starting tonight.

"I think it will make the team a bit more serene. You could see that on some occasions, we were a bit over-cautious tonight. Hopefully that will give us a bit more confidence.
