Udo-Obong vows to re position Nigeria athletics

Olympic Gold medalist Enefiok Udo-Obong says Athletics will witness its greatest revolution if he emerges President of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) come June 13.
Udo-Obong who expressed regrets that athletics has hit all time low in the country said his emphasis will be on developing young athletes, giving established ones the much needed support and intensifying technology based improvement training for both athletes and coaches .
A situation where the country’s contingent to international meets compete back to back and return empty handed he said should no longer be a tradition, considering that the nation is blessed with abundant potentials that only require well thought out harnessing to deliver.
He noted that even the relays in which Nigeria had hitherto pulled weight, has become a nightmare as most Nigerians no longer have high hopes whenever their compatriots are competing.
Returning the nation to winning ways he further added is not negotiable.
“I am bringing vibrancy and new ideas to athletics because we need it to return to glory days. We can no longer afford to go to international meets and return with nothing. You need someone who is equipped and ready to effect positive change that can bring the turnaround result we need and that is why I have come out,” he submitted
