Appeal Court to hear Shema’s case Nov. 9

The  Court Appeal to sitting in Kaduna has adjourned till Nov. 9, hearing in the appeal by a former Katsina State Governor,‎ Ibrahim Shema, seeking to challenge the ruling of the High Court in Katsina, in a matter between him and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The High Court in Katsina had on March 29, 2017, refused Shema’s motion seeking the court to quash his trial by the EFCC.
The anti-graft agency had arraigned the former governor before the Katsina State High Court for alleged N11 billion fraud.‎
At the resumed hearing of the appeal yesterday, counsel to Shema, J.B. Daudu, ‎sought for an adjournment to allow the court to seek clearance on a motion on alleged constitutional breach and jurisdiction.
On the other hand, the defence counsel, Joseph Okutekpa, urged the court for shorter date of adjournment for accelerated hearing into the substantive suit pending before the High Court in Katsina.
Justice Ibrahim Shatta, therefore, adjourned the matter to November 9, for further hearing.
