Osun Assembly clears Aregbesola’s commissioner-designates

The State of Osun House of Assembly on Monday cleared 38 out of 39 cabinet nominees submitted by the state governor, Rauf Aregbesola.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman of House Committee on Information and Strategy, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye.
The nominees were confirmed by
the lawmakers at the plenary in Osogbo with the exception of Mr Adeola
Tejumola, the statement said.
Oyintiloye said the motion for
the confirmation of the nominees was moved by the majority leader, Mr
Timothy Owoeye and seconded by the minority leader, Mr Akinwale
Akinwole.
In his remarks, the speaker of
the assembly, Rt. Hon Najeem Salaam, said the coast had been cleared
for the governor to proceed with the swearing-in of the nominees, having
found them worthy of confirmation.
Salaam, however, urged the nominees to operate open door policy and shun any form of corruption.
He said the nominees should bring in new ideas to governance that would rekindle the hope of the people in the state.
Salaam, who said the monthly
allocation from the Federal Government could no longer sustain the
state, urged the nominees to assist government in improving its
Internally Generated Revenue (IGR)
It will be recalled that
Aregbesola, in a letter dated April 11, forwarded 39 names of nominees
for the position of Commissioner and Special Advisers to the state’s
Assembly for consideration and confirmation.
