Anambra declares public holiday for voters registration
Governor Willie
Obiano of Anambra State has declared next Monday and Tuesday as public
holidays to enable civil servants to participate in the ongoing voters
registration exercise.
Obiano, who made the announcement as
part of the Workers’ Day celebration in Awka, said the move was to
prepare prospective voters ahead of the November governorship election
in the state.
He also advised those who registered before but without their names captured on the voters register to complete the process.
Obiano equally urged those that never registered before to take advantage of the work-free days to get the voters card.
The governor also asked those who
relocated from other parts of the country to Anambra to visit INEC
officers nearest to them in order to transfer their details.
While assuring a free, fair and credible
poll, Obiano urged the civil servants to encourage those who just
turned 18 to register.
