Rivers PDP ask Ortom to resign

The Chairman of
Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bro. Felix
Obuah, has called on Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State to resign from
office if he cannot tame the alleged excesses of herders.
Ortom had recently said suspected herdsmen had taken over some local government areas of Benue State.
The Rivers PDP chairman said Ortom
should resign as governor if he was finding it difficult to cope with
the task of leading the people his state.
Bro. Obuah, in a press statement issued
by his Media Aide, Jerry Needam, in Port Harcourt, yesterday, said
there was no other way of telling the people that Ortom could no longer
cope with the task of governance because of his alleged inability to
handle many issues, including insecurity and non-payment of salaries to
workers.
Responding, the Special Adviser on Media
and ICT to Ortom, Tahav Agerzua, queried the rationale behind calling
on his governor to resign.
“Are there no herders also in Rivers
State? Benue State was worst hit in 2014 under PDP led administration
before Governor Ortom took over. We would not join issues with Rivers
Sate because we are accountable to Benue people who elected the
governor; not some politicians who already an embarrassment to their
people,” he said.
