Fayose decries ‘detention of presidential aspirants’
Ekiti State
governor Ayodele Fayose has condemned the arrest and detention of people
perceived as having presidential ambition come 2019.
He decried the arrest and detention of former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido.
“Nigerians will resist any attempt to
foist a one-party state on the country no matter how tyrannical the APC
chooses to become; Nigeria will overcome its tyranny just like the
country survived past tyrannical governments,” he said.
In a statement issued yesterday by his
Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka,
Fayose faulted the reason given for the arrest of Lamido.
“With the arrest of Alhaji Lamido, the
detention of former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam since
February this year and the arrest and detention of Dr Babangida Aliyu,
it is becoming clearer that these APC people will only contest election
against themselves in 2019,” he said.
