‘Senate version of PIGB highly flawed’

The Petroleum Industry Governance Bill (PIGB) recently passed by the Senate is highly flawed and should be immediately jettisoned, a non-governmental organisation, Social Action, has said.
The NGO said the PIGB in its present state was vague about the future of the petroleum industry; not comprehensive enough and lacked clarity of intention, saying the bill needed to be reworked or it should be discarded completely.
A director in Social Action, Isaac Asume Asuoka, while addressing a press conference in Abuja yesterday, said: “A comprehensive package of the intended new legal regime for the Nigerian petroleum industry should be tabled before the National Assembly and other stakeholders for consideration simultaneously.
